A business card QR code helps a new contact save your details or open a professional destination without typing. This page starts with a vCard form: enter the contact fields you want to share, download the tested image, and place it in your card layout. No hosted profile, account, or continuing subscription is required here.

Decide what the card should help someone do

A business card is a compact reminder of a real introduction. A QR can help the recipient turn that introduction into a saved contact, a portfolio visit, or a professional profile. The most useful design starts with one of those actions rather than adding an unexplained square to fill spare space.

This page begins with a contact-card payload because saving practical details is a common next step. If your work changes frequently or your portfolio is the main reason people keep the card, consider a stable website link instead. The visible phone, email, name, and role should still make sense without a scan.

Make a code for your card layout

  1. Choose the action: save contact details, view a portfolio, or open a professional profile. Use the relevant generator type rather than combining several destinations into one ambiguous caption.
  2. For a vCard, fill your name and the optional professional details you actually want to distribute. Verify the international phone format and the inbox you monitor.
  3. Keep the visual design simple. Use the surrounding card to carry brand decoration while leaving the QR modules and border clean.
  4. Download SVG for a suitable vector design workflow, or a PNG large enough for the intended placement. Use the original export rather than a screenshot of the preview.
  5. Print a full-size proof and test the complete action on real phones. Inspect the proposed contact or destination, not only the camera’s ability to recognize the square.

If you are preparing cards for several staff members, keep an explicit record matching each code to its person. A batch of correctly generated images can still be misassigned when it is merged into a print layout.

Reserve space rather than shrinking until it fits

Card dimensions leave little room for a dense contact payload. Remove optional fields that add little value before reducing the code to an uncomfortable size. A long street address may be better printed visibly or placed on a maintained contact page, depending on the purpose of the card.

Leave the complete quiet zone within the artwork and keep trim marks, borders, and nearby text outside it. Put the code on an area that remains flat and unobstructed in normal use. Rounded card corners, foil stamping, embossing, and textured finishes deserve testing because the finished material can differ substantially from a digital proof.

Check what a recipient actually saves

Contact applications can display structured names and addresses differently. Test the imported first and last name, company, email, and phone number. A previously saved test contact can mask a change by merging records, so use a clean test record or another device when reviewing a new version.

For a portfolio or LinkedIn destination, open the public view outside your own signed-in management session. Check whether a visitor faces a login screen and whether the visible information supports your introduction. A code does not verify qualifications, identity, employment, or ownership of a professional account.

Keep a durable master and retire old stock

Save the approved QR export together with the card layout and its encoded details. That makes reordering straightforward and reduces the risk of a later designer tracing or recreating the image. Include a simple version note when a role, phone line, or destination changes.

A static code has no recurring fee here, but it cannot maintain your career information for you. Replace cards with obsolete contact details and update any stable destination page you control. People who already saved an old vCard need an ordinary update from you; the printed pattern cannot silently amend their address books.

Frequently asked questions

Should my card use a vCard or a website link?

Use a vCard when saving a name, number, and email is the intended action. Use a website or professional-profile link when you want someone to inspect a portfolio or current information. Label the code so the recipient knows what to expect.

How much information should I include?

Include the details that support your professional relationship rather than filling every available field. Long addresses and extra descriptions can make a small pattern denser. Keep essential readable contact information on the physical card as well.

Can I change my details after the cards are printed?

A static vCard contains the original contact details and cannot be remotely edited. A URL code can open a page you maintain at the same address, but the encoded address remains fixed. Neither approach updates contacts someone has already saved automatically.

Is the sticker-sheet PDF a full business-card design?

No. It is a generic repeated-code layout that can help with labels and simple applications. It is not aligned to a particular printer's pre-cut stock or a complete card-printing specification. Verify dimensions and trimming in your actual production workflow.

Does scanning save the contact without asking?

The scanner and contact app control how the vCard is presented. A compatible device may offer an import that the recipient can review. This generator does not write to anyone's address book or track the new contact relationship.
