A URL QR code opens a website when someone scans it. Paste your destination above, adjust the design, and download the image after the scan test passes. This tool stores your actual link inside a static code, so there is no subscription, intermediary redirect, or expiry date imposed by this generator.

Put the right destination in the code

A website code is most useful when it saves a person from typing a specific address. Send readers to the promised information rather than making them search your homepage. A packaging label might open care instructions, a museum sign might open an exhibit transcript, and a repair receipt might open the relevant support page.

Choose a URL you expect to keep. A short, descriptive path on a domain you control is easier to maintain than a temporary campaign address. Remove unnecessary tracking parameters if they are not part of your plan. Longer links can make denser patterns, and the destination should be understandable when a phone displays its preview.

How to make a website QR code

  1. Open the destination in a browser and confirm that it contains the correct information. Test the public version rather than an editor or account dashboard.
  2. Paste the full address into Website URL. If you omit the scheme, the tool adds HTTPS. Existing HTTP addresses stay HTTP, so choose HTTPS whenever the destination supports it.
  3. Select dark code marks on a light background. Leave a clear quiet zone around the square and keep corner patterns recognizable.
  4. Wait for the local scan test, then download your preferred file. Choose a larger PNG for layouts that will be resized, or use SVG in a design application.
  5. Scan the downloaded file from another device. Check both the displayed address and the page that opens, then repeat the check on a physical proof.

The scan test confirms that the rendered image decodes to your intended URL. It cannot tell whether a web page is accurate, safe, accessible, or available to someone outside your organization.

Give each placement one clear purpose

For a product manual, link to the model-specific instructions rather than a large document library. For a shop window, link to current opening hours or a useful booking page. For a classroom handout, link to a public resource with permissions that work for students who are not signed into your account.

Write a short action beside the square: “Read the setup guide” is more informative than an unexplained symbol. Include a readable website address as an alternative for people who cannot scan. If the destination changes often, maintain the content at the same address instead of printing a new temporary link each time.

Use a flat area with enough room for the entire image and its border. Avoid a fold, curved bottle seam, or shiny patch that reflects the room’s lighting. Start with a comfortably visible size for the expected viewing distance; there is no universal minimum that suits every camera, payload, and material.

An SVG can stay sharp when scaled, but sharpness alone does not make tiny modules easy for a camera to resolve. Print a proof at the exact finished dimensions. Ask someone to scan from the position where a visitor will stand, using ordinary lighting and a phone that has not already opened the destination.

An image that scans correctly can still lead to an error page. Common causes include copying a private preview URL, pasting an address with an expired access token, moving the destination, or letting a domain lapse. Check the underlying link before changing the QR design.

Keep a small record of where each printed URL is used. When reorganizing your website, preserve important addresses or maintain appropriate redirects on your own site. This generator adds no redirect of its own, and it cannot repair a destination you remove.

Frequently asked questions

Will this website QR code expire?

The code has no timer or subscription dependency. Its printed pattern keeps containing the same URL. The website behind that URL must still exist, remain publicly accessible, and keep its domain registration current for the destination to open.

Can I change the website after printing?

You cannot rewrite a printed static code. You can update the page at the original URL if you control it. If you need a different address, generate a new image and replace the printed copies.

Should I use PNG or SVG for my link?

PNG is convenient for documents and everyday sharing. SVG is useful when a designer needs to resize the code without softening its edges. Keep the white border in either format and test the final placed artwork.

Does the generator visit my website?

No. The form checks the structure of the URL and renders the code locally. It does not fetch the destination or verify its contents. Open the link yourself and test access from a phone before distributing it.

Can I count scans with this code?

This generator does not collect scans or route visitors through a tracking address. Your own website may measure visits according to its existing analytics setup. That is separate from the QR image and this browser-based tool.
